Measuring Guide
Getting your measurements right is the most important step to finding a Qipao that fits beautifully. Follow this guide carefully before selecting your size or placing a custom order.
Important Notes
Ready-to-Wear Items
- Measure yourself and compare your measurements with the size chart on each product page to find your best fit.
- All size charts on our product pages show garment measurements, not body measurements. Choose approximately 0.5" larger than your actual body measurements for ease of movement.
Custom Orders
- For custom orders, please provide your body measurements — we will add the appropriate ease allowance.
- Wear the bra and shoes you plan to wear with the dress when taking measurements.
- We strongly recommend having your measurements taken by a professional tailor.
- Measure 2–3 times to ensure accuracy. Record measurements in centimeters where possible.
Please also provide: your height, weight, and shoe heel height (for floor-length or fishtail styles).
How to Measure

1. Bust
Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level all the way around your back. If you plan to wear a bra with the dress, wear it while measuring.
2. Waist
Measure around your natural waistline — find it by bending gently to one side and noting where your torso creases. If needed, also measure around your lower abdomen and include that measurement in your notes.
3. Hips / Seat
Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
4. Qipao Length (Shoulder to Hem)
Stand upright and measure from the midpoint of your shoulder, over the fullest part of your bust, straight down to where you would like the hem to end.
For floor-length or fishtail styles: measure from the midpoint of your shoulder over the fullest part of your bust all the way down to the floor. Please also provide your shoe heel height so we can adjust the length accordingly.

5. Shoulder Width
If you lift up your arms, where your shoulder joint indents are where the measurement should start. Measure from one shoulder joint to the other across the back. Alternatively, wear a well-fitted T-shirt and measure from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.

6. Shoulder to Apex
Measure from the midpoint of your shoulder straight down to the center of your bust (the apex / nipple point).

7. Apex to Apex
Measure the horizontal distance between your two apex points (nipple to nipple), keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

8. Shoulder to Waist
Measure from where your neck meets your shoulder, over the fullest part of your bust, down to the narrowest part of your waist.

9. Back Width (Armpit to Armpit)
Measure the horizontal distance between your two armpits across your back.

10. Armhole
Measure from the top outer edge of your shoulder, down and around your armpit in a full 360-degree circle.

11. Bicep
With your arm relaxed at your side, measure around the widest part of your bicep in a full 360-degree circle.

12. Neck
Measure around the base of your neck where a choker necklace would sit. Place one finger inside the tape while measuring to allow for comfort.

- For qipao, we recommend either adding 2-3cm to your body measurements for a comfortable fit, or 3-5+ cm for a looser fit.
